Privacy policy
Last updated 28 August 2026
LogMovers is software that moving companies use to run their jobs. This page says what we hold, where it is kept, and who else can see it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
There are two different people on this page
Almost every confusing privacy policy comes from mixing these up, so we will keep them apart the whole way down.
- The moving company. The business that pays for LogMovers, and the staff who sign in to it. We deal with them directly.
- The moving company's own customers. The households and businesses being moved. They never sign in to LogMovers and we have no relationship with them. Their details are in the system because their mover put them there.
For the second group we are not the one deciding anything. The moving company decides what to collect and why, and we hold it and act on that company's instructions. In data protection language they are the controller and we are the processor. In plain language: it is their customer list, not ours, and we do not use it for our own purposes.

What we hold about the moving company
- Account details for each person who signs in: name, work email, phone number, role, and a password that is stored only as a hash, never as the password itself.
- Company details you enter: business name, address, phone, logo, tax rates, price lists, and the settings that control how your account behaves.
- Billing records: which plan you are on, which add-ons are switched on, what you have been invoiced, and what has been paid.
- Records of what happened in the system: who changed a job, when a document was signed, when a letter went out. These exist so that a disagreement about a move can be settled by looking rather than by remembering.
What we hold on the moving company's behalf
This is the part their customers care about, so it is worth being exact. When a moving company uses LogMovers, the system holds:
- Customer name, phone number, email address, and the addresses being moved from and to.
- Details of the move: dates, inventory, crew assigned, prices quoted, and notes written by staff.
- Signed documents such as estimates and bills of lading, including the signature drawn on the screen, the time it was signed, and the device it was signed on.
- Photographs taken by crew during a move, where the company uses that feature.
- A record that a payment was taken, how much, and by what method.
We never hold card numbers. When a card is taken, the card details go straight from the payer's browser to the payment company and never touch our servers. What comes back to us is a receipt: an amount, a date, the last four digits, and a reference. No card number, no security code, and nothing that could be used to rebuild one.
Who else can see any of it
We do not sell data and we do not share it for advertising. A short list of companies help us run the service, and each one sees only the part it needs:
- Hetzner hosts the servers. Everything described above lives on hardware they own.
- Square and Authorize.Net handle card payments, where a company has switched that on. They receive the card details and the amount.
- Intuit receives invoice and customer details, but only for a company that has deliberately connected its own QuickBooks. See the section below.
- Google receives addresses that are typed into an address box, so it can suggest completions and work out the distance and drive time between two places. Google receives the address only, never the customer's name or phone number.
We will also hand something over if the law requires it, and we will tell the affected company unless we are forbidden from doing so.
Email is the exception, and it is the good kind
Letters to customers do not go out through a bulk sending service that we control. Each moving company connects its own mailbox, and mail is sent from that mailbox as if a person had typed it. That means the contents of your customer letters pass through your own email provider and not through a third party we chose for you.
QuickBooks
Connecting QuickBooks is optional and stays off until a company turns it on. When it is connected:
- We send invoices, customers, payments and item names to that company's QuickBooks, so its books match its jobs.
- We read back the customer, item and account lists, so that what we send lands against the right entries instead of creating duplicates.
- We store the connection token needed to keep doing that, and the identifier of the QuickBooks company file it points at.
- We do not use anything from QuickBooks for any purpose other than keeping that company's own books in step with its own jobs. We do not combine it with anything, analyse it, or pass it on.
- Disconnecting stops all of it. Nothing already written to QuickBooks is removed, because those are the company's own accounting records.
Where the data lives
On servers in Falkenstein, Germany. The company that owns LogMovers is registered in the United States, so a request from a customer in Europe involves a transfer between the two. Backups are encrypted before they leave the server and can only be opened with a key that is not kept on it.
How long we keep things
- Job and customer records stay for as long as the moving company keeps its account, because that company needs its own history.
- Backups are kept for a rolling period and then deleted, so something removed today can still exist in a backup for a short while afterwards.
- When an account closes, we delete its data within 90 days, unless the company asks for it sooner, or unless we have to keep a record to settle a payment dispute or to meet a legal obligation.
Your rights, and how to actually use them
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see what is held about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to how it is used.
If you are a customer of a moving company that uses LogMovers, ask that company. They hold your record and they decide what happens to it. We cannot delete or hand over one of their records on our own say-so, because doing that on a stranger's request is itself a way of losing somebody's data. If you cannot reach them, contact us through the form on our home page and we will pass the request on.
If you are a moving company using LogMovers, everything we hold about your business is visible inside the product, and you can ask us for a copy or for deletion through the contact form on our home page.
How it is protected
- Traffic is encrypted, and the site refuses unencrypted connections.
- Each company's data is separated from every other company's, and the separation is enforced on the server rather than by hiding things in the screen.
- Backups are encrypted before they leave the machine.
- Passwords are stored as hashes. Nobody here can read yours, including us.
No system is beyond reach. If data is ever taken, we will tell the affected companies without unnecessary delay, and say what we know rather than what sounds best.
Children
LogMovers is a tool for businesses and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect anything about children.
Changes to this page
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will change the date at the top and tell the companies using LogMovers before it takes effect.
